2023 Privacy Update: Federal Laws, Regulations, and Trends for SUD and Mental Health Treatment Data 

The Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information (CoE-PHI) will facilitate a free national webinar outlining the current state of the federal laws, regulations, and guidance related to the privacy of SUD (substance use disorder) and mental health treatment information.

Objectives

• Describe the current state of federal privacy laws, regulations, and guidance for SUD and mental health information
• Identify recent and forthcoming changes related to HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, the Information Blocking Rule, and the end of the Public Health Emergency 
• Locate resources and access to technical assistance through the CoE-PHI

SUD and mental health treatment providers, clients and families, administrators, Privacy and Compliance Officers, state agency leaders, and others involved in providing treatment or coordinating care for people receiving treatment for substance use disorders or mental health.
