Technical Assistance

Technical assistance (TA) provided by the Center of Excellence for Protected Health Information (CoE-PHI) aims to support implementation of relevant federal confidentiality and privacy laws, rules, and regulations by healthcare providers and administrators, state and local public health authorities, and school-based professionals who provide mental health and substance use disorder services to patients and clients.

While the CoE-PHI is generally able to accommodate TA requests submitted by attorneys and/or legal professionals submitted for or on behalf of healthcare organizations, the CoE-PHI is not able to provide TA to attorneys and/or legal professionals otherwise engaged in the private practice of law.

TA is designed to clarify privacy laws, rules, and regulations, link
professionals to helpful resources, and identify strategies to support
understanding and practical implementation of regulatory requirements.

Before requesting TA, please consider visiting our resource center as our
existing resources may assist you with your question.
