National Webinar

Federal Privacy Protections for Patients Receiving SUD Treatment in Integrated Settings

A CoE-PHI and NASADAD Virtual Training

Thursday September 11, 2025 — 2:30pm – 4:00pm EDT

Many patients receive substance use disorder (SUD) treatment and related services at integrated healthcare facilities such as community mental health centers (CMHCs) or certified community behavioral health clinics (CCBHCs). Some SUD providers at CMHCs, CCBHCs, and other integrated care settings may be subject to the federal law and regulations for substance use disorder treatment records, 42 USC § 290dd-2 and 42 CFR Part 2, referred to collectively as “Part 2.”

Join the CoE-PHI and NASADAD for a free virtual training that will describe key privacy considerations for patients’ SUD treatment records that originate from a Part 2 program or provider within integrated health settings. During this live national event, we’ll apply learning to common scenarios through interactive case studies and discuss what the CoE-PHI can do to support organizations in understanding and applying the requirements of Part 2.

ASL Interpreters will be available for this training.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explain when 42 CFR Part 2 (“Part 2”) applies within integrated care settings
  • Understand how Part 2 allows sharing of information within integrated care settings (and externally) for purposes of care coordination
  • Recognize how to apply learning through case study examples representing common scenarios
